I have a problem. Can't find: PresetEffects.xml. I got AE CS4 and Vista OS. Plz help.

You need to find the After Effects application first, then view it's contents. On PC, the app's default install location I believe is:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS3\

(step 2 might be Mac specific, not sure on PC)
2. Right click and choose "Show Package Contents"

3. Once that opens you can navigate to "Contents" > "Resources" and find "PresetEffects.xml" in there.

Yup, that's the problem. I can't find: "Show Package Contents" on PC. I tried to find the "PresetEffects.xml" file with no luck.

Hey Jonathan, got the location from some friends. The PresetEffects.xml is located :

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files

David,

I have CS4 and Vista and I am getting the "Can't add property to HANDHELD camera" error. I saw that someone else had the same issue, but they really didin't say what they did other than recheked the XML code. I have done that about 6 times now and tried re-installing it. Any suggestions on how to get it to work? Anything would be appreciated. THANKS in advance for your time.

Doublecheck the PresetEffexts.xml to see if the last line in the whole document reads "" if it does then shoot me a direct email and I can help you further. You can use the contact sheet on my main site www.sydefxink.com

Sorry, stupid HTML got parsed. The last line should read < / Effects > Without the spaces.

Glad it's working so well for you Sue. I do have a newer version still on the way that is better in a lot of ways. Hopefully I can finish it sometime soon. :)

HI David, great script but I'm having probs with the presets. Basically when I try to rename the second one, it remains as 'handheld camera 2', no mater how i do it. BTW this is on AECS5 so it's probably specific to that, but it leaves me unable to use the presets, any ideas?

many thx, Gray

@fenyxfury Not too sure off hand why it would not want to save the new name. All I could say is try hitting "return" instead of "enter" to confirm the name or vice versa. Another way would be to delete to first one and reset the expressions one by one after the error popups are done. Annoying, but should work. I am still in the process of getting Handheld Camera 2 coded. I am getting closer to finishing it and this version will eliminate having to do the whole "preset swap" non-sense.
